Research
Our research concentrates on Performance Management and Business Analytics. We use the SPMM – St. Gallen Performance Management Model (www.spmm.ch) as a research framework, that we continuously further develop. Methodologically we focus on empirical research approaches (quantitative as well as case study based) with the aim of publishing relevant research results in top-level and practice oriented journals in order to generate impact for our relevant stakeholder. Close cooperation exists with international research partners (University of Bologna, University Amsterdam and others) as well as with several companies.
Teaching
The chair is engaged in mandatory courses around management accounting and performance management on Bachelor level (Accounting, Controlling, Auditing) as well as on Master level: Master in Accounting and Corporate Finance (MACFin), Master in General Management (MGM), Master in Computer Science (MCS), Master in Medicine (MED). Moreover, the chair offers further electives to students at Bachelor, Master and PhD level. Frequently we invite guest speakers from practice to contribute with insights from the field and employ visiting lecturers.
Transfer
We see practical applications as a proof of concept for our theory driven developed concepts. Therefore we maintain close connection with practice. This is often conducted in the context of national or international publicly funded projects as well as single corporate cooperations.
Executive education
In order to intensify the transfer of knowledge between research, theory and practice we are also engaged in executive education in executive MBA or corporate programs. We also offer specific courses for practitioners or companies in the field of performance management in the scope of our Performance Management Academy.
