Dr. Barbara Seitz is awarded the Giorgio Behr Prize 2019 by the Institute for Accounting, Control and Auditing at the University of St.Gallen (ACA-HSG).
Barbara Seitz earned her Bachelor (B.Sc.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) degrees from the University of Augsburg and the Technical University of Munich between 2009 and 2014.
During her master’s degree, Barbara Seitz spent half a year as a Research Assistant in the Department of Applied Finance & Actuarial Studies at Maquarie University in Sydney, Australia. Barbara Seitz worked as a research assistant at the University of St.Gallen, during which she was also part of a research collaboration with UBS AG. She spent 18 months at the Stern School of Business at New York University as a visiting scholar in the Department of Accounting funded by the Swiss National Foundation. She completed her dissertation titled "From IAS 39 to IFRS 9: Accounting of Financial Instruments in the European Banking Industry" in 2018.
After graduating, Barbara Seitz started a position at the Copenhagen Business School, Copenhagen, Denmark, as Assistant Professor.
The Giorgio Behr Prize – donated by Prof. em. Dr. Giorgio Behr - is awarded for the best dissertations in the departments of the Institute of Accounting, Control and Auditing at the University of St.Gallen (ACA-HSG).
The public award ceremony took place on November 28 2019 at the University of St.Gallen.
